Changchun Lu, near Luxun park and Duolun Lu, which was the former American Concession, is full of local neighborhoods are almost 100 years old. Aaron shares his memories of growing up along Changchun Lu before his family moved out to make room for a new high-rise development. With this experience, he often reflects on how the newer high-rise lifestyles changes the social dynamic of its past and current inhabitants. He recalls how the street life was more social, when people would sleep outside in their easy chairs on hot summer nights, light the wood stoves, and hang laundry. He questions progress and how it relates to the psychology of its previous inhabitants- citing his own grandmothers health as an example.
